Our credit union won't let us take our TDI to Belgium with us (like we planned.) So now I get to sell the thing. Except we still need it for a month or two, but then need to sell it pretty quick when the time comes.

Can someone explain to me how a credit union can decide whether or not to transport a car?

You know what to replace it with.

I suppose the real question here is why you'd want to go to Belgium.

Why is that? Why do you need a credit union? What sort of car is it and how much could you get for it? You may be able to get something really nice is Belgium with the money you get from the sale of the TDi. Also window shopping on eBay or Autotrader till you land in Belgium could be fun.

They made the mistake of asking. I'm sure there's some legal ramification of taking a vehicle out of one country when you have a loan on said vehicle.

This; I need a copy of the title to import it to Belgium. I still owe on it.

"Well, if I can't take it to Belgium, please come pick the car up in Belgium!"
I imagine that the CU is holding the title, and if you took the car to Belgium, recovery in case of repossession would be tough.

2012 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. I could break even on it if I sold it.

VW Golf and Passat wagons are plentiful.
